Studio Voltaire
Established in 1994, Studio
Voltaire is the first and only artist-led gallery and studio complex in South
West London. Over the past two years, it has developed an ambitious and
wide-ranging programme of education events and projects. In conjunction with
the Exhibition Programme, Studio Voltaire offers multi-layered, innovative
projects for widening participation in the arts, especially for individuals and
communities who have little or no access to formal education or who may not be
regular gallery visitors.
The gallery is committed to presenting artists at every stage in their career; exhibited artists have included Jordan Baseman, Sonia Boyce, Adam Chodzko, Craig Fisher, William Furlong, Brighid Lowe, Liam Gillick, Jonathan Monk, Bob and Roberta Smith, DJ Simpson, Eva Stenram, Mark Titchner, Alison Turnbull and Rachel Whiteread. We aim to contribute to the support network and infrastructure of contemporary practice on a regional, national and international level by providing career opportunities and developing links with regional and international artists. We have presented a number of regional and international artists including Kathrin Bohm and Andreas Lang, Gerard Byrne, Goshka Macuga, Caroline McCarthy, Aleksandra Mir, Joanne Tatham and Tom O'Sullivan, Mungo Thomson, Markus Vater and Lawrence Weiner.
